Tomas Lagerberg, born in Sandviken, Sweden 1959, graduated in Computer Systems from the Royal Institute of Technology in 1983.

He joined ABB as an executive trainee the same year and has remained with ABB ever since. He has held various positions including global marketing and product management for ABBs control systems business as well as forming and heading a global business unit on Industrial IT Platform. Since 2004 Tomas has been with Corporate Research and headed automation research for ABB Sweden.

His department currently consists of around 70 researchers working in areas such as control, software, user experience, mechanics, robotics and industrial communcation.
