CRAFTERS aims to significantly reduce total cost of ownership, time-to-market and the number of development assets by introducing a holistically designed ecosystem from application to silicon through a tightly integrated multi-vendor solution and tool chain that complements existing standards. ICT-based service and product innovation in Europe is being inhibited by the growing vertical chain of dependence on poorly interoperable proprietary technologies. This issue has a high impact on European innovation productivity so incentives are needed for the convergence of shared technologies and markets as well as public support for creating standardised, commercial ecosystems in European priority areas. CRAFTERS will enable feature-limited releases of reference tools and platforms will become available to support the evaluation and adoption of the results.
