Workshop Presentation | Project Pitch

Co-summit 2015

Rationale

Each year, guided tours are organised for small groups of visitors (i.e. Public Authorities, keynote speakers and journalists), to see "short presentations" of the projects at the exhibition.

The ARTEMIS-IA Office offers the projects' booth crew a presentation training, for support on how to present the key message and business value of the project in 5 minutes. This training, done by our professional communication trainer Ellen de Vries will not only be useful for the presentations during the guided tours, but will help you prepare a short, strong presentation which can be presented to all visitors of your booth (see also feedback quotes below).

Training setup

This year’s training setup is as follows:

  1. Subscription to the training session
    First you subscribe to the stand crew training session by sending an e-mail to iris.hamelink@artemis-ia.eu before 16 December 2014.

  2. One-on-one Skype session
    Then, before you start working on your PowerPoint presentation, the professional trainer Ellen de Vries will contact you to help you prepare your pitch and create a storyline that people can relate to. During this one-on-one session you will discuss: what is your storyline, what will be the business impact and the relevance for public at large, shortly: why is your project so important?

  3. PowerPoint review
    When your pitch and storyline are ready, you can work on your PowerPoint presentation, which you can then send in for review.
    If you send in your PowerPoint presentation based on the prepared pitch, storyline and provided template before 18 January 2015 (deadline to be confirmed), Ellen de Vries will review your presentation in time for the Co-summit.

  4. Workshop presentation pitch
    The prepared presentations will be discussed in a 1,5 hour workshop on 9 March in Berlin, focusing on project presentations/pitches of ARTEMIS in general, by using specific ARTEMIS project pitches as an example.
    NOTE: all stand crew members that will represent the project at the Co-summit 2015 are invited to attend this workshop, not only the project leader.

  5. 15 minute face-to-face training sessions
    If you still wish to receive personal feedback on your presentation, you can book a 15 minute timeslot after the workshop. These training sessions are scheduled from 17:30 - 20:00 hrs. We advise you to book a timeslot as soon as possible, since availability is limited.

Teresa Chacon attended the training and commented:
"Workshops like this make participants get involved in other projects from a more personal point of view. I would really suggest recommending this kind of activities to make teams more conscious of workers' reality and needs".

Subscription

If you wish to improve your PowerPoint presentation and your presentation skills, please subscribe for the training by sending an e-mail to iris.hamelink@artemis-ia.eu before 16 December 2014. Please also inform me of your travel schedule, so we can try to take this into account when planning the different sessions.

Presentation guidelines

The training will be based on the PowerPoint template, designed for the presentation of your project at your booth.
Download the presentation template here.

Overall, the presentation should:
  • aim at a 3-5 minutes duration;
  • present the purpose of the project (innovative aspects);
  • highlight the business value of the results/achievements;
  • address in a high level manner the techniques being used and/or developed.
Some tips:
  • The presenter does not necessarily have to be the project leader.
  • Do not use precious time presenting the partners involved;
    if necessary just mentioning/showing the partners and/or countries is sufficient.
  • Keep your story positive, limit criticism.
